Since our beginnings in 1949, Camp Judson has engaged children, teenagers, and adults with Jesus and connected them in relationship with one another in an outdoor setting.
As a faith based non-profit organization, we rely on God’s provision through our friends and partner churches. Each year, we receive roughly 40-50% of our income from donations, so you might wonder, where do those donations go?
Part of the answer to the question is determined by whether or not you designate your gift to be used in a specific manner.
If you choose to designate your gift, those funds are set aside and are used according to your wishes. Some common designations for gifts are for scholarships for campers through our Every Kid to Camp Scholarship Program or for Capital Fund gifts to fund building projects. Designated gifts are not used for other purposes without the permission of the donor.
Unrestricted/undesignated (or gifts that are designated to “where it is most needed”) gifts are used to subsidize the cost of summer camp by helping to cover program and maintenance expenses, (like feeding/caring for horses, purchasing chlorine for the pool or recreational/sports equipment, replacing water pumps, roofing, or climbing equipment, or repairing buildings, tractors/mowers, kitchen equipment, etc.) as well as overhead costs for things like camp staff, insurance, etc.
In 2016, we anticipate that unrestricted donations will total over $150,000 which averages to roughly $270 for every camper who participated in Summer Camp 2016 – which enables us to keep summer camp registration costs as affordable as possible for families.
We are grateful to God for the partnership expressed through the prayers and giving of our friends and partner churches. We can’t do what we do without you!
