4:12 Student Leadership Academy
The 4:12 Student Leadership Academy is for young men and women in 9th to 11th grades who are seeking to grow further toward spiritual maturity by providing opportunities for training and mentoring in Christian Leadership.
The goal of this two year program is to encourage and assist young men and women in 9th to 11th grades as they seek to live out the challenge offered in 1 Timothy 4:12, “Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young. Be an example to all the believers in what you say, in the way your live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.”
The program is open to young men and women in 9th to 11th grades who are seeking to grow further toward spiritual maturity by providing opportunities for training and mentoring in Christian Leadership.
Students interested in the program can download an application from www.campjudson.com. All applications must be accompanied by a recommendation from a pastor, youth leader, or Sunday School teacher and should list the name of an adult in their local church who will serve as their mentor for the program.
Applications for the 2011-2012 school year should be submitted to Camp Judson by October 22, 2011.
The program consists of two components:
Instructional Weekends
All students participating in the program will gather for training sessions three or four times over the course of the school year. Session locations will vary with some being at Judson and others taking place at local churches.
During the course of each session, students will receive training in a specific aspect of Christian leadership (such as spiritual gift discovery, devotional life, discipleship, evangelism, servanthood, etc.), worship together, develop friendships, and participate in projects suited to the theme of the session.
There is a $50 fee for each training session to cover the cost of program materials and activities. Churches are encouraged to cover the cost of students from their congregation who participate in the program as an investment in both the present and the future of the church.
The first session for the 2011=2012 school year will take place on October 28-29 at Camp Judson, with other instructional sessions taking place in the winter and spring. Dates for those sessions will be available soon.
Mentored Ministry
The second component of the program takes place in each student’s local church with the help of a mentor. The mentor will help the student to find ways to apply the training they receive by participating in the ministry life of their local church in ways that fit both the congregation and the student, as well as providing the student with encouragement and feedback as they participate in the ministry of their local church.
