Why work at Camp Judson?

Here at Judson, we are primarily interested in creating an environment where campers, staff, and volunteers can be drawn into a deeper relationship with God, experience the love of Jesus, and have healthy relationships and Christian community modeled for them and real growth can happen.

As a result, staff often experience personal spiritual growth themselves as well as the development of lifelong friendships with other staff. Here at Judson the saying goes, “There’s no friends like camp friends!

 

The hiring process for paid positions begins in January and runs through mid-March when we make our hiring decisions and offer them to applicants.

Volunteers can apply at any time, a mandatory volunteer training event will be provided for all volunteer counselors, CSPs, and Wranglers who have not yet graduated from high school (optional if you have, but strongly encouraged and recommended).

 

What characteristics do you look for in Summer Staff members?

As a Christian camp, we are primarily interested in creating an environment where campers, staff, and volunteers can be drawn into a deeper relationship with God, experience the love of Jesus, and have healthy relationships and Christian community modeled for them.

As a result, we look for Summer Staff who are actively seeking to follow Jesus (and are a good example for those around them), to grow in relationship with God, and to use their gifts in ministry.

In short, we look for three sets of criteria evaluating candidates for Summer Staff positions:

Character – an active follower of Jesus who is an example for others and possesses character traits like: integrity, responsible, hard-working, caring/compassionate, and teachable to name a few.

Chemistry – We look for individuals who are “team players” who get along well with others and handle their relationships and conflicts in a manner appropriate for a follower of Jesus.

Competence – We look for individuals who either possess the skills/education/training appropriate for the position they are seeking or the potential to learn the necessary skills/tasks to serve in their role well.
